IPL

For skin rejuvenation, vascular & pigmented lesions

Get rid of sun damage, broken capillaries, and uneven tone in as little as 3 sessions.

If you’re dealing with sun damage, pigmentation, rosacea, or visible red veins, IPL (intense pulsed light) gets to the root cause by targeting the pigment and vessels beneath your skin’s surface.

Lumecca IPL is the most powerful IPL technology available, which means clients see dramatic results faster than with standard IPL machines – often after just one session.

It works by delivering precise pulses of broad-spectrum light that the pigment or redness absorbs. This breaks down the darker spots or shuts down the tiny capillaries causing the redness. Over the following weeks, your body naturally clears away the treated pigment and vessels, leaving clearer, more even skin behind.

As a bonus, IPL also stimulates collagen and elastin production, so your skin looks plumper, dewier, and generally healthier overall.

Who’s it for

IPL works well if you’re dealing with:

Age spots or sun damage (brown pigmentation)

Freckles or uneven tone

Rosacea or general facial redness

Broken capillaries or spider veins (red facial veins)

Poikiloderma (mottled pigmentation on neck/chest)

Anyone wanting brighter, more even skin tone

How it works

IPL delivers controlled pulses of broad-spectrum light into your skin. The pigment or blood vessels absorb this light energy, which causes them to break down or shut down.

For pigmentation:

The light targets the darker melanin in age spots, freckles, or sun damage. The pigment absorbs the energy and fragments. Over the next 1-4 weeks, your body’s immune system clears away the broken-down pigment, revealing clearer, more even skin.

For redness and veins:

The light targets the hemoglobin in blood vessels. When the vessels absorb the energy, they either blanch immediately or change color and gradually fade. The redness or veins become less visible, and your overall skin tone evens out.

In both cases, the treatment also triggers collagen and elastin production in the deeper skin layers, which improves texture and plumpness over time.

What to expect

How it feels

During treatment, you’ll see a bright flash of light with each pulse. It feels like a light elastic band snapping against your skin – quick and sharp, but over fast.

Some areas are more sensitive than others (especially bony areas or thinner skin), but most people find it completely manageable.

Immediately after treatment, your skin maybe red and feel slightly warm (not often) – like mild sunburn. This usually subsides within an hour.

Over the next 24-48 hours, pigmented spots will darken (this is normal and means it’s working). They’ll then flake off or fade over the following 1-4 weeks as your body clears them away.

For vascular lesions, you might see veins blanch and disappear immediately, or they may darken to a grey color before fading over the next few days to weeks.

The overall result is clearer, brighter, more even skin with improved texture and tone.

FAQ's

What areas can be treated?

Any area exposed to sun – face, neck, chest, hands, arms, and legs are most common. For vascular we only treat above the heart due to gravity, unfortunately any vascular veins beneath the heart we can’t treat.

Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning for one month before treatment. If it’s been over 12 months since your last skin check, we recommend getting one. You’ll also need a consultation and test patch to ensure the settings are right for your skin.

Most people see significant improvement after 3 sessions for pigmentation or vascular lesions. Rosacea and persistent redness usually need up to 5 sessions. Your therapist will assess and recommend based on your specific concerns.

Not really. You’ll could have some redness for about an hour after treatment, and pigmented spots will darken before they flake off. You can return to normal activities immediately, but you’ll need to avoid direct sun and wear SPF religiously.

IPL works best on lighter skin tones because the contrast between the pigment/vessel and surrounding skin is greater. During your consultation, we’ll assess whether IPL is suitable for your skin or recommend alternative treatments if needed.

Avoid direct sun exposure, tanning, hot showers, saunas, and intense exercise for 24 hours. Keep your skin clean, moisturised, and protected with SPF 50+. Your therapist will give you detailed aftercare instructions.

Some results are immediate (veins blanching), but full results develop over 1-4 weeks as your body clears away the treated pigment and vessels. Results continue to improve with each session.
